ORDER FROM CHAOS

A handful of soldiers from the 405th Civil Affairs Battalion in Utah set out to fill the 13 Provincial Reconstruction Teams of RC east Afghanistan. They braved the streets they paved against the devices of a growing insurgency. They braved the valleys and the hills through mortar fire and complex attacks and from the ashes built governance, economy and order from chaos. Though their posture was defensive, their swift execution in the kill zone would leave a resounding message in the ears of the  Anti-Afghan Forces, “…in the wild-wild west, justice is swift; you will reap what you sew!”

These are the stories of the men and women of the 405th Civil Affairs Battalion…The Lucky 13!
